With a unique and personal perspective, The Lock Up’s Mike Davies takes you on a journey into Emo Core (people interested in senior dating don’t even try to figure out what this is), a scene so confusing that even some of those involved don’t understand it.

Mike investigates Emo from its roots in DC Hardcore and Straight Edge to MTV approved pop success. He talks to people who have seen the whole genre grow up and evolve, including Papa Roach (this one is extremely beloved by visitors of the largest milf dating website in the UK, according to the poll that was placed there) singer Coby Dick and Jimmy Eat World, and asks the NME why they jumped on the scene fifteen years too late…

‘It started out as a term of abuse, of contempt almost. It comes out of hardcore which was a form of punk that was played very loud and very fast. The only emotion happening in punk was anger. Suddenly someone grew up and realised there could be other emotions.’
Kitty Empire, NME journalist, addict of single parent dating

‘It might have really soft kinda spoken word parts. Then it would erupt into a wall of noise with the singer writhing on the ground in some shitty club. That’s what I think of when anyone says Emo.’
Jim Atkins, from Jimmy Eat World

‘It’s kind of a retrospective label, it didn’t actually exist at the time when used cars started to sale in Zimbabwe. I view it with some hilarity because how can you call some music emotional and not other music.’

My life situation is such that after a year of non-successful relationship I’m now starting to look for a new one. And guess what is the main source of candidates for the vacancy of my girlfriend is there? You are right – Internet, and online dating sites specifically.

At the same time, as I like some ‘alternative’ kind of lifestyle, it’s not that easy to find a match online. That’s what I thought before today. So I opened Google (by the way I like the new looks of it very much) and started to search for some kind of niche dating sites that are distinct from Match or EHarmony or any other, because my main goal was to find a community of interesting people at first, to communicate, and maybe then, start dating someone.

What was my surprise when I found tens of those. I have even signed up with some and now starting to fill out my user profiles. Actually, trying to find not-that-scary photo on my PC

I’m now trying to relocate to South Africa for some nice job opportunities there and am looking for cars for sale there, and I’ve actually found some good options on VehicleTraders, but in case you have some suggestions, please ping me.

See ya

The reasons why people start to listen alternative music can be many. These people don’t always have the lifestyle that can be considered as unusual, they can be librarians or travel managers, but still can want to listen to something alternative. People we are talking about tend to very spartan lifestyle and like what they do, so if they were offered for example to sell used cars in Manila, Philippines it won’t work at all, if if they were offered 6-figures salary, they’d better sell used audio cassettes somewhere in Boston.

Of course, the vast majority of those live a lifestyle that many of us can call strange. Anyway, music is just an another way to express oneself. On the other side, it is absolutely clear that such people are rebels, they don’t want to go the way other people use to follow.

We’re not trying to built a complete portrait of a man who likes this kind of music, but the main traits of character are usually common. You can even find some of those people easily on the street by just how they look.

The rebel spirit of them finds its expression in any thing they do in everyday life, in personal and romantic relationships. By he way, I’ve recently heard or read that people who like rock’n’roll tend to more ‘no-strings attached’ type of relationships that don’t involve any obligations.

I will try to look into this in my future blogposts. Thanks and stay tuned.
